Hambo Hoedown #8

Here's my entry into Hambo Hoedown #8.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but I've heard it said.......

In fact, no one in my immediate family is a coffee drinker. Except sometimes my hubby does drink a cup or two to be social, but he adds so much sugar and creamer that "real" coffee drinkers usually just stare at him!

Have a fun day, and go join in this challenge!

BLOG CANDY WINNER.....

is # 6 - Theresa P. This was scientific - Hubby picked his favorite number - and then asked "what am I choosing a number for?" Since I couldn't get that random thing to work for me.

So, Congrats Theresa P - Please contact me (terriavidreader at yahoo dot com) and I'll need your address to send you the blog candy! You have until Friday afternoon to send me the info.

Thanks everyone for participating. I hope to do this again within the next couple of months.

Blog candy over!

Time's Up. I am now working with those who entered my blog candy and will post the winner this evening. Thank you every one who signed up. Good Luck!

Hambo Hoedown #7

Here's my card for Hambo Hoedown #7, using this cute little party elephant and Sparkle! I used the little "flowers" for the stars in the party night sky! And a reference to a great oldie song!

Come join the party at Hambo Hoedown. It's fun and there are cute images to be had!

Sorry I'm late with this..... Blog Candy

BLOG CANDY IS NOW CLOSED!!

**I've added a few more items to the candy - Remember is closes on the 23rd!(probably the middle of the day)
And there is an EK punch there (someone asked what the black thing was)...

Here's my blog candy. It should stay on top until it ends on March 23rd.

No special reason for this candy now, other than I have been very lucky in blog candy wins, and I wanted to share with everyone. Sorry there isn't more here, but unemployment isn't a good thing.

There may be a couple things added (I had a few more things but have misplaced them - so if they are found I'll add them!).

Open to everyone. Just please become a follower of my blog if you aren't already, and put this candy on your sidebar.

Blogging Pet Peeves..... anyone want to chime in.....

One of my blogging pet peeves is: when a blog has a blog candy announcement in their sidebar and they never clean it up...

Come on, I've found blog candy listings recently on several blogs that are dated from OVER a year ago. The links are more than 365 days ago! Come on!

Now I admit I don't get mine off immediately, but they are never on there longer than a month past the blog candy win date. I always find time to go "clean up" my sidebar of announcements and things sometime during the month.

And I also HATE it when someone has their own candy, and cannot seem to announce a winner within a reasonable time of the announced closing.

I mean come on, if you post your own blog candy stating it closes on a specific day - you should announce the winner within a couple days. After all, you chose the close date. I realize sometimes something may come up, some emergency of something, but sometimes I think people just deliberately refuse to announce within a week or so to just get people coming back every day to check.

I have never signed up to follow a blog just for candy - NEVER. I don't think anyone should do that, just out of plain courtesy.

I love blog candy - don't get me wrong, but I also love finding new blogs to follow and rarely have I been so disappointed with a blog (actually, 3 times) that I discontinue following after a while. Two of those basically quit posting much - just a very few times a year, and the other one drastically switched styles of projects into something that I am not interested in at all.

Anyone want to join in - What is your pet peeve about blogging? No personal attack, no names of bloggers please - but are there things you find continually that irritate you? Things that can be readily fixed? I hate when you click on a link and it's broken, and I try to let the blogger know that too. I've had that happen to me. I'd like to know. But some people have gotten really irritated when I comment about please announce the winner already - when it's more than a week after the close date!

Hambo Hoedown#6

Here's my card for Hambo Hoedown #6. Cute little guy, isn't he?

Joan's Garden Challenge

Here's my card for the challenge at
Joan's Garden - it's the Just Rite one that ends tomorrow.

So I'm just squeaking by. I don't have many Just Rite products, but this is a set I had purchased from Joan's a year or two ago, and don't often think to use it. Maybe I'm getting into the "Spring" of things!

Anyway, there are TONS of prizes available on this one, so I couldn't pass up the chance to make a card and try!

Challenge at Pieces of Fate

Here's a card I made for a challenge over at Pieces of Fate.

The challenge is to make a card with No flowers of any kind, not in the paper or as embellishments or anything.

And the hubby gets to pick. So hopefully he likes birds! I think Momma birds are the most wonderful caregivers. I love watching them in the summer constantly fly back and forth to the nest.

Have a great day, and get busy, Mother's Day comes really soon.

BLOGGER problems...

Is anyone else having tons of problems with Blogger??

My BLOGS LIST of the ones that I follow keeps disappearing.

I've tried to find out if there are problems for more people, but can't find it out for sure. Every day, for the past several days, the list just simply disappears for hours at a time. Today it was gone for over 6 hours.

Eventually it does come back, but what a PAIN! And I wonder if it's just me? Let me know if you have been having the same problems. Please.

I've tried to contact them, but not having good results with that either! Everything keeps bouncing back to their Q&A and there isn't a good response in there.

trying to get ahead...

Well, I've been trying to get some birthday cards made up ahead of needing them, so today that was a project. i actually have about a dozen more partly completed. You know, when you find the right papers, or when using the cuttlebug and nesties, you do more than one at a time!

candy will be coming real soon.....

Hey everyone!

Just a heads up that I hope to post some blog candy later this week. I'm going to try and do this every quarter this year.

Some of the items are things I purchased early on at this hobby, and then found out I didn't like (such as stickers) and a couple are just great bargains I found and so I bought 2 - keeping one myself and giving the other away. And then a very few are things I have received as blog candy that I know I won't be using - so I hope the original giver isn't too upset that I'm sharing it on to others who I hope will enjoy them to their fullest.

So stay tuned. This will probably run until mid-March - to give lots of time to sign up.

Cupcakes anyone?

YUMMMY!!

I could eat these!

Here are some of the cards I've made with a few images I recently won at
Limited Runs. Aren't these lovely images. Nikki does such a fantastic job - you need to go there and check them out. She has tons and tons of cupcake images (plus some other images as well) but I adore these cupcakes.
And I just realized I haven't posted much except a couple of challenge cards in a while. I'm WAAY behind in posting. I make at least 10 cards a week on average, but you couldn't tell it here. I'll try and come back later today and post a few that I have pictures of. Some, sadly, get sent before I take photos. Still working on that!!
Have a great Sunday everyone!

Liebster Award

Yesterday I was given this award by Holly . If you've never been to her blog you should take a minute to click on her name and go visit. She is a very special lady. I'm thrilled she thinks enough of my blog to give me this award!

There are a couple of rules that accompany this award.
First you need to post about the award and then thank and link back to the person who presented it to you. You also need to let them know that you have accepted the award. Then you need to select 3-5 people to present the award to and inform them.

Holly told me a little about what she thinks this award is about or why she went along with it. The Arnold-Liebster Foundation seeks to promote peace, tolerance, human rights, and religious freedom by peaceful and nonpolitical means. She said she didn't know for sure if the Liebster award is based on the Arnold-Liebster Foundation, but was going with it by giving the award.

Here are my three choices:

Chris from Chrisd - Simple Things in Life

Karen from Have A Scrap Happy Day

Debbi from Diamond Grove

Check them out, you won't be disappointed if you pay them a visit!

Hambo Hoedown entry

Hi. Here's my entry into the Hambo Hoedown #1 Challenge. I love their images, but I'm not into Football. But Purdue is the hometown team, so I made a card featuring them.

Go check out the challenge Here (and get a freebie image too) and join in the fun.

Sorry I haven't posted much, but things have been hectic around here. Lots of snow, sleet/ice and very cold weather (we're just a little south of Chicago) and I've been busy making up Valentine's that my hubby took to his work to sell. Many of his co-workers purchased some last year - so we'll see what happens.

I promise to do better. Well, I'll try anyway!

Here's another photo of that gorgeous grandaughter of mine!
So far she isn't opening her eyes for me. Every time I get around her, she either sleeps or pretends to sleep and refuses to open those eyes. So my son took this photo for me to prove she doesn't actually sleep 24/7! Bet they sometimes wish she did!

You all have a great day, stay warm, and I'll post again soon!

Good news....

A recent comment by someone reminded me that I hadn't let everyone know!
Sorry. I should be more considerate of announcing things.

I have the results from my recent biopsy (on the other side) and this time it's good news. Just fibrious material - not cancer this time!! Hallejuah.

I do have to follow up again in six months with another double mammogram and ultrasound, but that's OK. If I continue to get good information I'm willing to do that!!
Thank you all for your continued prayers.

And now that I have this new little bundle (Dahlia!) to enjoy, life is good!!

Monday, January 17, 2011

She's here!!

Isn't she precious! Dahlia Anne Scott was born last night, January 16, 2011, and weighed 6 # and 6 oz and is 19 1/2 inches long!
top photo is grandma (me!) Great Grandma (my mom) and Dahlia.
The next is Dahlia with her long hair!
The next one is just me holding her, then my son (the daddy!) and finally the first time grandparents who are going to spoil this little girl like crazy!

Thursday, January 13, 2011

Off for a biopsy again..

Well, I thought I was in the clear, but with my recent mammogram - I'm not. So I'm off for a biopsy again and hope this is not cancer this time around. Last year's lumpectomy and treatment was enough. And naturally, this is the "0ther" side now.
So keep me in prayers. I want to concentrate on this new upcoming granddaughter instead of more treatments or surgeries.

This baby is due in 8 days!!
By the way, I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but the name Steve & Karen have chosen Dahlia Anne! Isn't that cute and unusual. Well, this isn't an absolute until they see her, but it's most likely the name!

My Mom is back visiting (for a sad reason, my Uncle Gayle passed away this week) and we've talked her & Mel into staying at least til the 25th. I hope this baby comes in time for Great Grandma to see her! They both HATE the cold weather and snow, being Floridians now, but since they had to make the trip anyway, we just thought it was smart to stay an extra week, and it was cheaper to fly back after that date too.

Another sympathy card...

Here's a card I made for my Aunt Jo.

My Uncle Gayle passed away on Monday, and because of something new going on with me (I may write about this later on) I will be unable to attend the funeral or viewing, so I hurried up and got this card ready for my Aunt Jo.

Uncle Gayle was my Mom's last living sibling. This is hitting her pretty hard. I made arrangements for her and Mel to fly home (back home again in Indiana - USA! where the weather changes every day) amid all the new snow and even talked them into staying an extra week or so - who knows, maybe that new Great Granddaughter will arrive while they are still here! Wouldn't that be nice.

Want some more candy ...

My friend Chris has some candy available for a few more days. Now part of me didn't want you to know about this, but then I figured I should start the New Year off being nice. Plenty of time for me to get back to my selfish ways later on.

So... what are you waiting for, go check it out. It's listed on my sidebar and ends on January 8, or you could just click on Chris's name - it should take you there!

Happy New Year from me!

Celebrate - being a new Grandma (first timer!)

Here's a card I made for the StampFairy Challenge.

The theme for this week's challenge is "Celebrate." This could be New Years, a Birthday or any Special Occasion - You must have a sentiment stating what kind of celebration (i.e. Happy Birthday, Happy New Years, Happy Valentines).

I hope they understand how much this being a Grandma is a celebration for us! This new little one is due in just 22 days!

when you are ill...

Here's another card using a House Mouse image.
I love this little image, and it seems like I've been needing "get well" cards quite a bit recently. So this makes a very cute one to send.

I'm going to enter this one too. Since I had to make it up anway. A former classmate friend has just had some surgery, and I think he'll like this one.

Mousy cards...

Here's one of my favorite House Mouse images. Such a cute card for even guys!
I'm entering these into the House Mouse Challenge.

Help if you can... and just enjoy this story

Please go check out Nikki's post Here and contribute if you can.
What a loving memory of her mom. I try to talk to my Mom every day, as she is getting older and starting with Alzheimer's we believe. As a teenager I didn't care for my Mom at all, and she understood and just waiting for me to "wise up". Don't know what I'd do without her. Stories like this remind me to treasure her while I can.

Merry Christmas again.... with snow this time

Here's a photo looking out my back door this morning! Perfectly covered with a light amount of snow!

Merry Christmas!

Well, things have slowed down here finally.
I've been busy making cards, but then the actual sending of them has taken up so much time. And in the middle of all that, I had a baby shower for my son and his girlfriend (expecting that first granddaughter in January!!) and although fun - it was a lot of work. And to top it off, I forgot to take any pictures. DANG.

Just when that was over, we got news that our friend Bucky had passed away. I had to stop and make a couple of sympathy cards for his special ladies (daughter Stacy and wife Gayle), and then we had to drive a few hours to go to the viewing - couldn't stay for the funeral as that was this morning - and our family are all coming here for Christmas, with me cooking the dinner.

I think I've written about Bucky before. He's most recently been battling cancer but he also had a kidney transplant almost 35 years ago. He's strong-armed this cancer for about 18 months when they told him he'd maybe get 12 months. But he's at rest now, God Bless him, and in no more pain. And when chatting with him (or Gayle), always asked how I've been doing since the breast cancer.

So it's been rather hectic.
I came home last night to learn I had won some blog candy at Tickled Pink! Soooo looking forward to that! And getting back into posting. Sorry it's been so long really. Next week I hope to put up a few photo collages of some of what I've worked on. They won't be very good as the actual cards have been mailed off (or in a few cases - sold) so I only have small thumbnail sizes that I keep to show off. but there have been so many that even I am still amazed.

For now, Simply Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my followers, family and friends.

LPSC99 - the last one

Here's a card I made for the last Little Paper Shop's Challenge #99. And Julia, this one is for you. I'm sorry to hear that the store is closing.
I don't have many of their stamps, but I do love them. I wish I had them all in digital form.
The challenge was to make a square card. How simple is that!

Monday, December 13, 2010

sorry I've not been posting much....

I've been so busy lately, sorry I haven't posted much. First I had a big craft sale to get ready for (over 200 cards were made!) and actually that was a bust. Didn't sell hardly any because we got dumped on with tons of snow that day. Secondy, I'm having a baby shower for my son and his girlfriend and getting invitations out and things ready for the party - and Christmas stuff too -- well, it's been stressful a little but I'm loving it too. The Baby shower is this coming weekend now. After that, I hope to be back here a little more regularly.

Now, here's a card I'm submitting for The Stamping Boutique's current monthly challenge. I've actually done a couple of these recipe cards recently.

By the way, if you'd like this recipe and can't read it here, let me know. It's great. I get requests for it everytime I take it somewhere.

Tiny Blog Candy offering...

OK.... Here's a tiny blog candy that I'm offering until December 7.
I hope to add some stamped images to this bunch also ( a couple new to me House Mouse and a few others, incuding some CC Designs).

The only thing I ask is that you put my candy up on your sidebar (and I will be checking) and answer this: What is your one cardmaking tool you could not live without? Also, I'd love you to follow, although following is only if you want - not a requirement because I would hate someone to follow and then cancel.

After the first of the year I hope to try and have some tiny candies about every quarter. I just need to go through my stash and come up with things. It may be things that I decide I won't use or maybe even something great that I really like. But I've been very lucky winning candies and I'm very thankful for that which has allowed me to continue with this hobby I love since I've been unemployed so long (nearly 3 years now!)

Now I'm off to figure out how to add Mr. Linky - You may need to come back to add your info into that, along with your answer to the question.

BLOG CANDY IS NOW CLOSED
