GOOD NEWS!!

Hey everyone!
I have some good news!
I was released from the hospital last night (so it was an outpatient procedure), and doing fine. Really sore but so much better, especially in mind and spirit.

I had my lumpectomy and they removed the small cancer, and luckily it appears that there was no cancer in the lymph nodes. They only removed the two lymph nodes to test (this is always done) and when they tested them during the surgery they didn't find any cancer cells. Now I have to wait to be positive on the final pathology (should be by Thursday), but sounds good to me!

I DO still have to have the radiation treatment but the one planned is called mammosites, and it's where they insert radiation seeds into this small balloon which was implanted during surgery right into the space where the cancer was. This lets them radiate it from the inside out, which is very good - a better way to be sure they get it all. This treatment has to be done twice a day for 5 days, but that's a lot better than the old fashioned treatment of daily for nearly 8 weeks. And for right now also, no chemo is planned.

So thank you so very much for the prayers and concerns! I truly believe it's what made a difference.

Now, for all the ladies out there - did you schedule your mammogram yet? If not, why not? Believe me, it's worth it - every single time!

God is good!
