Happy Saturday!

Wow! I really am looking forward to having a day off work. Isn't that pitiful?! I only work part-time too. This has been a long 3 weeks of trying to learn a new job and get back into things.

BUT... today is a new day, and I've successfully completed another card (only my 2nd one for the week!!) It's a CAS, my fav type, for the SSDS challenge.
This week the challenge is sponsored by My Favorite Things, and I just love this little image. Works for so many things; Mom's or a simple thank you for a friend.
Drop by the blog and see what the other DT have made up for you, and then join in! It's fun and easy and you have a good chance to win a prize too!

learning new stuff on the job... sorry for no posts

Sorry I haven't been posting much lately, but with this new job, I'm tired all the time (can you imagine!) and I've been doing some homework for it, trying to learn lots of new stuff that I need to know. I don't know how all you ladies manage to work full time, deal with all the routine family stuff, and get the crafty stuff done!

I promise to have some stuff up this weekend. I'll have the Saturday SSDS challenge, and I think I'll have some Squigglefly stuff too, definitely by Monday! I haven't been making many cards, but I have a bunch of birthdays in February so I know I have to get back on track! Let alone the DT work!

I've had to chose a New Blog Candy Winner!

Well, I allowed a little extra time, and I never did hear from Katarina, so.... SORRY!

So tonight, I'm chosing a new winner of my blog candy.

And the new winner is...

LARISA.
(*Candy has been spoken for, and mailed)

Please comment here, and then email me (my email address in my profile) your snail mail address (for those out of the USA please be very specific on how to address mail) and I'll get these goodies out as quick as possible. You have 48 hours from now, so by Monday evening!! I hope the goodies arrive to be used by Valentine's Day!

SSDS Saturday

Here's my card for the Stamp, Scrap and Doodle Saturday challenge this week.

It's a SPRING THEME! I love flowers, and they always make me think of spring, so when I received this little image, that's the first thing I thought of!

Isn't this just the cutest image! I love it! It was a recent blog candy win and I am so happy to be an owner of some Penny Black images!

I'm not really a cat lover, but my oldest son now is, and I will admit that he has one cute little cat that gets up to some mischief. This could be him.

Come join the fun today (or this week) and make a card with a spring theme, and get it entered. We had nearly 60 entries last week! WOW! We are so excited to see so many enjoying our challenges!

Valentine Candy from Pray for Roy

*Sorry, guess this was from last year....
But I still sent a card - how about you?
I just found the Pray for Roy blog where Elizabeth is offering some blog candy. It's her first blog candy giveaway (and she has many more planned) and although no strings are attached, if you'd like to donate to Relay for Life they would appreciate it. Check it out! Candy is up until February 10. And give.
We all know someone who has been affected by this rotten disease, and so it's an excellent cause! And you could win some goodies too!

We have a blog candy winner!!

First, thank you everyone for joining in my blog candy!
I did add to it, and I hope the winner enjoys the goodies! I hope to have more candy later on, so for those who didn't win, please come back and check in the next couple of months when I hope to have another, larger candy!

OK - first, here is the box of names from all those who entered my little candy! It was very simple to gather the names as only a comment was required!

This is my DH, who wasn't particularly thrilled at being chosen to help, but hey, it was a simple task, so he tossed the pieces up and down a few times and then reached in and chose one!

and

the winner is....

KATARINA

So please email me (you can find my email in my profile on the right) and be sure to give me your clearly written mailing address. You have 48 hours from now to comply - so I need that email with your address by 9:45 AM on Friday, or another will be chosen.

Wanna Win Some Valentine Candy?

Blog candy is CLOSED. I'll try to announce the winner tomorrow - and will allow an additional 24 hours for response (so must respond in 48 hours of name announcement or another will be chosen).

This post will remain on top until blog candy is drawn!
OK, it's not much, but I have gathered up a little bit of blog candy and I wanted to share it as I've just begun as a DT member for Squigglefly (and I love those images!) and also because I love Valentine's Day and so most of these small things are Valentine themed.
I'd love for you to become a follower, but it's not a requirement. The only requirement is leaving a comment. I'll close this candy on January 19 around 6 pm, so it will allow some snail mailing time to get this package to the winner so it can be used for Valentine's Day cards. The winner must check back and acknowledge with their address in the comments within 24 hours of them being drawn, or a new winner will be drawn.
The larger picture shows ALL the candy. The smaller pictures just help clarify what is being included: some stickers, some ribbons, some punched sentiments and small valentine's and some trim punched pieces, some paper flowers, some foam shapes, some K&Co elements and 2 foam stamps and one wooden Hearts stamp.
I've recently applied for a new job, and if I get it, I'll add a few more items. The "having no job" is the reason I haven't really offered much blog candy before now, only a couple little things. I hope to do more blog candies this coming year, as the economy improves.

***Edited to add, I did get the job!! So I'll be adding a few small pieces to this candy, and I've already added this stamp set I found at a bargain price! And I thought the little hearts and true love and bells with hearts and dove sentiments work well for Valentine's too! Not to mention the Proposal!
You have until my supper time to enter! before I close it and try to choose a winner before bedtime!

Squigglefly Challenge #32

This is my first Squigglefly Challenge card!
This is such a cute image, and a fun one to color too.
Maria Matter is my team leader in charge of today's challenge and her challenge to use was to make a CAS (clean and simple) card and be sure to include the color blue, and of course, include a Squiggleflly image!
Feel free to join the design team with this challenge. Just link your card using Mr. Linky at the bottom of the challenge post, and there is a chance for a prize image in this challenge too.
Now I already peeked, and there are some fantastic cards this time around. The whole team is listed in my sidebar - so go check them out!
Also, don't forget the blog candy above. It ends tomorrow!

SSDS Challenge again!

HI
Well, it's time for another Stamp Scrap and Doodle Saturday Challenge.

We had so much fun with the images from last week, that we decided to make a girly card with some of the images from Sweet Pea Stamps again! And we are so happy that so many people joined in the challenge last week! What fun to see so many ideas and projects! I'm so sorry I didn't make it around to everyone's blog to see them all, but the team has been chatting all week about the wonderful response!

Even though the competition is over, your cards and projects will still be up, and I hope to finally make it around to see them all.

Come join the challenge this week too. The more the merrier!! I'm a firm believer that we can learn something from everyone and this hobby of mine is the perfect example. How everyone interprets the images and what they come up with is just amazing.

Sir Dustin

Have you all noticed that there is news afoot at High Hopes Stamps?
Sir Dustin is due to arrive on Jan 20 with new images! Check it out!

Sketchy Thursday challenge

I made this card for Sketchy Thursdays. I saw their reminder:

iCopic Second Chance Challenge ending tomorrow!
Just a little reminder that the iCopic Second Chance Challenge is ending tomorrow, Tuesday 1/12 at 11:59pm EST. , and hurried and finished this up. I think I pretty much followed the sketch. I had made another card, and goofed it pretty bad, so I just started fresh with this paper. It was a digital freebie, and I can't remember where I got it, but I love it.

I'd love the chance to win some copics and give them a try!

Simon Says Challenge

Here's my entry into this week's Simon Says Challenge of Hot Chocolate! I love this little image (yea, I use him a lot!)

I decided I'd try adding a button - not my usual thing. Turned out OK, but I need to work on this.

I'm excited today, as I've had a good interview for a job. Pray it works out for me, please!

How about another Avid Reader...

My friend Holly told me that Squigglefly had an older image about reading, and this one is named: Avid Reader. I love it!

This was me a long time ago. My mother, Bless Her, signed me up to a book club when I was very young, and the day the book would arrive, you'd find me just like this until the whole thing was done!

Then I'd be angry because it was over, and I would have to WAIT for the next one to arrive! The first series that I really remember a lot about was called The Happy Holisters. Of course there were many other books, but this was a series about kids like me! Well, not like me in that they had adventures and traveled and had plenty of brothers and sisters (I was a stay-at-home girl with two brothers). But I always had fun imaging that I was part of those adventures.

My boys were into Comic Books, in fact they collected them for years - which I thought was a waste, but my only condition was that they had to read the ones that they purchased. And they did! I think they still have over 800 in backer boards and plastic. I always think this is part of the reason my boys chose their career paths (both have degrees in English and Creative Writing)

A Squigglefly Ark!

I just love this new image from Squigglefly. It's by artist Jane Beljo and I had fun making up these first two cards. Then, when I was working on another, I goofed!
What I did was, I had started coloring the animals, and the rainbow, and then I got distracted and when I came back to it I just glued it up onto the black background. Then noticed I hadn't finished the coloring of the ark. So I started in, and the glue was showing through when I colored it. And I couldn't make it go away! So I nearly threw the whole thing away.

But I'm kind of a hoarder, or packrat or whatever, so I set it aside and went off working on another card (I have a ton of birthday cards to get ready this month!!). Anyway, I was sitting here, fuming about the goof, when I remembered a joke or story I had read somewhere about all the animals who shouldn't have been invited onto the ark (you know: skunks, rats, mosquitos etc.) and so I was looking at this unfinished card and suddenly woodpeckers came to mind. That would work to "cover up" the mistake! So that's what I used. And I think it turned out funny.
I'm sending this card to a friend who could certainly use a laugh about now, so I hope he finds it funny too.

You never know when a goof can become an asset! So don't pitch those mistakes immediately anyway, hang onto them for a while and rethink.

Here's a new Squigglefly image...

Here's one of the new images available today at Squigglefly.

It's called: Rag Time Reader and the artist is Cheryl Alger.

As most of you know, I'm an avidreader (hence the moniker!) as I usually read at least a couple books a week, and so this was a very fitting image for me! I've since found out that Squigglefly has an older image simply called avidreader, so I'm off to check on that one too! (Thanks for that info Holly!)

I'll be back later today with another

Happy New Year... and do I have some news!

Well, it's official. I am a new Design Team Member for Squigglefly! I am so excited. I have been bursting to tell you, but they wouldn't let me until today!
I love their images, and I only have a couple. The Dancing Denise was a blog candy win and so much fun to work with. I've made use of her several times, but this was one of the most fun, sent to a Sister-in-Law who did the Thanksgiving dinner!
Anyway, I have a couple of images I've worked up but they have to be held until tomorrow, when these new images are released. Be sure to come back and see them!

Special Request...

Please go below for newer posts:
I have a special request that's been running for a while now, please check Here and participate. It's very simple. I'd like you to mail a card to someone in need. That's all. So simple. And he desperately needs some cheering up. Any type card; humorous, get well, thinking of you, or holiday card. The information is below or click on the HERE above. Less than 50 cents to mail and it can do so much! PLEASE do this.
This request tag will stay on top for a while, through the Holiday Season, in hopes of bringing more cards to my cousin Don as he recovers. I sure do appreciate all those who participate!
I know there are so many generous people out there willing to share a little card cheer to those in need!
